What I Have Learned

So I don't know who is aware of this, but the last two Thanksgivings, Christmases, New Years, and Valentines I have been pregnent. Now, I am not getting pregnent again...  for awhile. But I thought I would share some of what I have learned being preggers around the holidays. To start off, it was great. I ate and ate and ate, rested, then ate again...  Hey the baby needed food too. Really, out of all times thoughout the year this is the time to be pregnent. However this year I am not preggers and I noticing a lot of people talking about dieting around the hoildays. I think this is the worst time to diet. you have at lest 10 other months thoughout the year to not diet, but develop healthy eating habits. So if you aren't as lucky and can't pig out this time of year, you can at lest keep it under control and not engorge yourself, but at the same time not go on a diet. And if you have gained a couple extra pounds over the season you have 10 more months to work it off and develop good eating habits then you won't have to worry next season.

Family Pictures

We got our family pictures taken last month and I wanted to share them with you.

Also, my sister Sarah mentioned that one of Makayla's pictures was magazine cover worthy, so I went to MagMyPic.com and made a magazine cover of it :) Thanks for the idea sis!

It's potty time...

I have been waiting for this for a long time. Makayla is ready to be potty trained. We have a little potty for little kids, that Makayla can sit on. It all started Wednesday night. After baths, I set her on the potty. She sat there for awhile then she went! I was so excited. The the past couple mornings I have let her sit on it and she has used it. She loves it. She hates getting her diaper changed so this is a nice change. But I am not sure really where to go from here. How do I get her "fully" potty trained? Any suggestions would be nice.

Makayla's New Bed

Makayla has gotten used to her toddler bed faster than we thought. From day one she has not had any problems falling asleep in her new bed. However, at times, her leg(s) will get stuck in between some of the sidebars, but other than that she doesn't really seem phased about the new sleep arrangement. She still doesn't know how to, or doesn't dare to try, get off the bed on her own. So some mornings we will check on her and she'll just be sitting there on her bed, head down, just waiting for us. Haha, she is so funny. Here is a video I took of her in the morning after her first night in the toddler bed:

She has tossed the blankets around a bit, and her head ended up facing the opposite way we put her in, but she seemed happy.

Family Matters

Makayla has been doing much better since we got the mightly teething tablets! I also think finally the teeth have cut through. And once that happens it just gets better from there. She has been acting much better. Almost back to her normal self. We also got her this toothbrush thing you put on your finger and some kid toothpast and you can bruch your childs teeth. Since Makayla is eating almost everything we eat, and her teeth are almost all in. It is important to try to keep her teeth clean.
Kyle is super cute! He is really making sounds when I talk to him. He is also smiling. I call him "my morning boy," because in the morning he smiles the most. I think he may be a morning person. which would mean he is so far the only morning person in the family. He still wakes up every 5-6 hours at night to eat, then most of the time he goes right back to sleep. On Friday he got his shots. When Makayla got her shots, you wouldn't know by the end of the day that she had them. But Kyle hasn't been feeling good. And you can see where he got them because his leg is all red there. I have been told to rub it, it will hurt at first but it will help the mucels. I don't know if I can do it.
Bryan took some days off of work, and I think he is excited to go back. I think Bryan needs a break. lol.

teething trails

So far Makayla has been taking the whole teething thing well. Better than I expected. However the beginning of the week, she was acting sick. Then Tuesday she had a fever. And Tuesday night she didn't sleep at all. Almost the whole time she was awake she was screaming. From about 3am-7:30am she was wide awake. Finally 7:30am I put her in her crib and let her cry it out. I was exhausted. She slept for a couple of hours, that was good for her. So Wednesday morning I went to visit my parents, it is nice for all of us to get out of the house for a day. Bryan was able to stay home and sleep. Ironically Bryan planned to take Wednsday - Friday off just to take a break and get more sleep and he's now getting less. At least she is almost done teething. Unfortunally we are going to have to go through this all again with Kyle. Oh well, they are worth it.

Best of Times

We have moved to American Fork. It was an amazing thing. We applied to several different places with no response. We decided that we weren't meant to move and had about given up hope when a lady called about a house that was one of the first ones Bryan called about and left a message. She had been out of town for a couple of weeks and had just gotten back. We looked at the house, loved it, and turned in the application. We also decided if it didn't work out we weren't meant to move. We had less than a week to pack up, and a day to move all our stuff. It is times like that that you realize you have a lot of stuff. I just want to thank all the people that helped us that very long day.
So now we are settling in and liking it. It has taking Makayla a while to get used to it, but once we found her toys she seems to be enjoying being here more. She is starting to look through the cupboards and take out all the stuff she can, especially if it is food.
All-in-all we are very happy we have moved. We are hoping we will be here for a long while.

New Living Quarters

In order to save on gas, we have moved closer to work. We spent all day Tuesday moving and we are feeling it. I picked up the U-Haul truck at 10:30am, and with the help of My dad, my sister Lindsey, my neighbor Andy, and my friends Zuke, and Steve we had most of the place packed into the moving truck, a pickup truck, and two cars by 4:30pm. After that, there were two more pickup truck loads, and Heidi and I were all packed in by 2:30am then next morning :D YAY. I would like to thank all of you that helped in the moving process. I would especially like to thank Zuke and Mel for coming over last night to help unpack. It was a great blessing. The family room would have taken days to look how it looks now, and I'm sure the same applies with the kitchen. :D

Kyle Kurt Schmidt

Kyle Kurt Schmidt was born on April 15th, 2008 at 10:44 pm. He weighed 7lbs 6oz and was 19in long at the time of his birth. He is as attentive as his big sister was when she was born. We are so very happy that he has made it to us in good time and very healthy! More pictures to come! :D

Wow it's been a while

We need to get better at blogging. To catch everyone up, Heidi is 28 weeks along and we found out in December that it is going to be a boy! We are thinking of naming him Kyle. Makayla is 8 months old now and barely starting to crawl. I think she would rather walk though. She gets frustrated at how slow she moves on her belly. I'm working on getting more pictures and videos up, so bear with us.
